Energy Saver

This device is designed for communication and video appliances (home/office) to disconnect the standby power from the power line to save energy and to improve the power factor.

A device to reduce reactive power and eliminate standby power for communication and video appliances

  • Energy Saving

When digital home appliances are used, relatively much reactive power is consumed. This device can minimize the demand for reactive power from grid, which can greatly contribute to domestic and national energy savings.

When home or office digital appliances are not in use, the power supply is completely disconnected, thus minimizing the standby power consumption, which could be wasted otherwise.

  • Safety

When digital appliances are not in use, the power supply is completely disconnected. This way, electric shock and fire accident can be prevented.

The surge voltages generated by lightning are absorbed by the Energy Saver, which can minimize the malfunction of components.

This device, when it senses over load or over current, disconnects the power source, which will help fire protection. This way, the impact of over load or over current is not conveyed to peripherals.

It automatically cuts off the power supply when over load, over current, or short circuit is sensed in a real time mode. This functions as fire prevention and effective suppression of impact propagation to other components.

      -  Over load: load is 120% rated capacity, lasting 3 minutes or longer

      -  Over current: current is 250% rated current, lasting 1 minute or longer

      -  Short circuit: current is 300% rated current, within 30ms

  • Convenience

This device employs the automatic control by a built-in microcontroller which uses the signals from human body recognizing sensor and the remote-controller-signal-receiving sensor.

Simply connect this device to the multi-tap outlets which regular homes usually use. No additional efforts are needed to start the operation of it.

-  Automatic 'on' function is available. Human body sensing by various sensors mounted enables it.

-  It monitors the operation status of the main and peripheral components of the home appliances and if none is in use, automatically turns off all the power supplies and thus disconnecting the plug is not needed.

  • Energy saving during operation

The power factor of the overall system including small-powered peripherals is maintained as high as 85~92% by use of PFC. This saves the energy wasted due to excessive reactive power.

(Maximum power factor improvement 25% / an effect of national energy saving)

Minimization of line loss, and transformer losses, both iron loss and copper loss, through power factor improvement.

Reduction of power generation and efficient use of electric power possible (power utility company) –  Decrease in CO2 emission and reduced facility investment possible.

  • Simple automatic power factor control (PFC) employed

In the case of general manual PFC, the power factor compensation for full load operation and that for minimum load operation show great difference.

250W level SMPS: For 60W – PF 56%    For 250W – PF 78%         Difference : 22%

If simple automatic PF control (i.e. use of the Energy Saver) employed: the PF difference between low and high loads is 10% or smaller.

  • Elimination of energy waste due to standby power

This device automatically cuts off the power supply when the appliance is not in operation by use of current sensor/human body sensor/IR sensor.

(95% of waste before installation reduced/self energy consumption 0.15w or less)

It controls in an integrated manner the overall system as one unit, encompassing all the main and peripherals.

  • Disturbances in power supply blocked (6800 J)

At the input point of power supply, surge filter/PFC circuit is installed, which blocks power disturbances incoming from external sources. Multi stage filters are used and thus the disturbances are completely eliminated right at the entrance.

First stage: surge filter (varister)

Second stage: inductor as a passive PFC

Third stage: surge absorber

  • Remind users of the importance of energy saving and environmental pollution

Real time display of consumed power and CO2 emission by LCD reminds users of the importance of energy saving and problem of environmental pollution.

     -  Current consumed power and duration (Watt, Hour)

     -  Consumed energy (Watt-hour)

     -  Emitted CO2 by the energy consumption (Kg - Co2)
